Is Powder Coating Flammable? Addressing Fire Concerns with Fire Resistant Powder Coatings
Since the Grenfell Tower Disaster, there has been an increased focus on the Fire Resistance of building materials and coatings.
Various metal parts and surfaces within or outside buildings can be coated with Fire Resistant Powder Coatings.
When specifying a Fire Resistant Powder Coating, consider the following factors:
- The spread of flame: British Standard 476 part 6 & 7 has four classes, from Class 1 to Class 4. We supply coatings that meet Class 1 requirements.
- Combustibility: European Standard EN 13501-1 classifies coatings. We offer A2L Standard; Non-Combustible coatings.
- Smoke Emission: EN 13501-1 classifies smoke emission. We provide coatings that meet S1 Standard.
- Release of Particles: EN 13501 classifies the release of particles. We offer coatings that meet D0 Standard.
Powder Coatings Ltd can coat parts that meet the combined standard: A2L-s1, d0 of EN 13501-1 and BS 476 Class 1.
